Second Moon, Pale Grain
Country & Rural Life • photoreal

Out in the Ridgeline Holds, settlers still run their irrigation schedules off pressure gauges bolted to the porch rail, and the cassette deck stays on through the whole harvest season whether anyone's listening or not. The lumin-wheat goes silver when the second moon clears the ridge, and for about ten minutes every third night it looks like the fields are made of something worth keeping.
